I’m Mary Garcia, an educator, creator, and the founder of SmartSeeds, where learning, storytelling, and everyday life come together.
What started as preschool readiness kits has grown into something more, a collection of stories, recipes, and handmade pieces rooted in connection, creativity, and the rhythms of real life.
How We Started
SmartSeeds began with a simple idea: helping families learn together in meaningful, hands-on ways. As a teacher, I wanted to create tools that made learning feel natural, playful, and connected.
That work laid the foundation for everything I create today.
What Changed
Moving to a remote island in the Bering Sea changed everything.
It reshaped how I cook, create, and share. It slowed things down. It brought me closer to the rhythms of nature, and to a community that lives with intention and resilience.Today, that experience lives inside my work, from pantry-inspired recipes at The Mossy Table to handcrafted pieces in the Moss & Moonflower Boutique.
